Firearm License Information

You will need a New York State Pistol License to purchase a pistol or any handgun from us.

If you are looking to purchase and own a Semi-Automatic Rifle in New York State, you will need a Semi-Automatic Rifle License. This went into effect on September 4th, 2022. If you already have a New York State pistol license, you can add a semi-automatic rifle endorsement through your local licensing authority. This addition is generally a simple process. Contact your local licensing authority for the most current procedures, as the amendment process varies depending on where your license is issued and the agency that issued your license.

If you do not have a pistol license, you would need to apply for a pistol license. The following contains some helpful information on how to apply.

In Suffolk County, all pistol license matters are processed by either the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office (for the five east end towns) or the Suffolk County Police Department (for the five west end towns.)
